Teaching Kids Sunday School Ephesians 2

For a number of years my husband and I have taught 5th and 6th grade Sunday School. This morning as I was going over the lesson, which is based on Romans 8:31-39 about the love of God. I recalled my own childhood, how I had memorized these verses but the reality of them was not alive in my heart. It was not until my early 20s that I began to pray Scripture that I didn’t understand. I longed to know God’s love and began to pray Ephesians 2: 17b-19

17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18 may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, 19 and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. I felt the Lord impressing on me that this is such a teachable moment for our class, to teach them at this young age to pray Scripture. So I made some prayer cards about the size of business cards.
