Teaching Kids Sunday School Ephesians 2

For a number of years my husband and I have taught 5th and 6th grade Sunday School. This morning as I was going over the lesson, which is based on Romans 8:31-39 about the love of God. I recalled my own childhood, how I had memorized these verses but the reality of them was not alive in my heart. It was not until my early 20s that I began to pray Scripture that I didn’t understand. I longed to know God’s love and began to pray Ephesians 2: 17b-19

¹⁷ so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, ¹⁸ may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, ¹⁹ and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. I felt the Lord impressing on me that this is such a teachable moment for our class, to teach them at this young age to pray Scripture. So I made some prayer cards about the size of business cards.
