A great skit for Kids Sunday School
As a Sunday School teacher I have been asking the Lord to help me to be more faithful and diligent at properly preparing, so that He might use my words and lessons to impact the hearts of the children. My desire is that the Word would not just fill there minds but become truth to their hearts.
Studying this week’s lesson on Pslam 1 , He inspired me to write a skit.
Psalm 1
1 Blessed is the one
who does not walk in step with the wicked
or stand in the way that sinners take
or sit in the company of mockers,
2 but whose delight is in the law of the Lord,
and who meditates on his law day and night.
3 That person is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither—
whatever they do prospers.4 Not so the wicked!
They are like chaff
that the wind blows away.
5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.6 For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous,
but the way of the wicked leads to destruction. From Bible Gateway (NIV)
The Skit
Characters: Blessed Man, Wicked Man or Men, God, Assembly of the Righteous (extra students in the class can be added to the wicked crowd or the righteous assembly)
Props: one form of audio to play Scripture, blue sheet, props to represent wickedness (perhaps pretend smoking etc.)
Scene 1: Read Psalm 1:1 The wicked crowd is gathered in the corner, pretending to smoke, acting rough, maybe teasing each other. The blessed man walks by, then comes to stand near them, then pulls up a chair. Have the wicked give the blessed man some bad advice. Discuss how this would affect him.
Scene 2: Read Psalm 1:2 The blessed man moves to another corner of the room where there is Scripture playing. He appears to meditate with a smile on his face.
Scene 3: Read Psalm 1:3. Have the blessed man act like a tree (a healthy confident one who is prosperous. You could even bring in a blue sheet and have him/her stand next to it as if that is water)
Scene 4: Read Psalm 1:4 Have the wicked who are still around the ungodly music to act lethargic, sick and fall over. (With the appearance that they are so frail they would blow away in the wind.
Scene 5: Read Psalm 1:5 In a third corner of the room have God and the assembly of the righteous surrounding Him. The wicked crowd walks toward the judge and He looks on them sternly and they fall.
Scene 6: Read Psalm 1:6 God walks over to where the righteous man is planted by the water and looks on him. Perhaps God could stand on a chair and appear to look down on the righteous man with the appearance of watching over him.
