Longing for safety and security

There is a deep, deep yearning in your heart for safety and security.

As I read this devotional this morning I pondered the truth of this. I look at my own life, thoughts and actions recognizing that often the motivation for decisions is based on my need for safety and security.
Perhaps this influences what house we buy, how many children we have, what ministries we become involved in and numerous other decisions throughout our lives. This need could keep us from God’s best for our lives if it becomes the guide mark for our choices.
Even in relationships I notice that my instinct is to rely on these to satisfy my need for safety and security. Only God can meet this need. Only God never fails.

Proverbs 29:25

The fear of man brings a snare, but whoever leans on, trusts in, and puts his confidence in the Lord is safe and set on high.

Lord, help me to rely on You for my safety and security. Amen
