1 Peter 5:7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

The first step I took in my fight against anxiety was realizing I wasn’t strong enough. Then I accepted the truth from God’s word. I don’t have to be strong at all because God’s strength is made perfect through my weakness. (2 Corinthians 12:9)

Stop fighting and accept God’s mercy. Hide beneath the shadow of God’s wings (Psalm 17:8 & Psalm 91:4) and stay there while He fights for you (Exodus 14:14). The world tells us we lose when we stop fighting. God tells us the fight is HIS and to cast all our cares upon Him (1 Peter 5:7). God loves you. God fights for you. God wants to carry all your cares. Believe Him.

There are a million different ways to handle things. I run to scripture when I want to fight or when it is time to go to battle against something in my life that God is going to release me from. When I say stop fighting, I simply mean to run to God’s word. To run to God by using His word to fight those terrors you face. I know what it is like not to sleep because the anxiety in your nightmares is real. I know what it is to cry for no reason and repeat to yourself and anyone that will listen, I’m not crazy. I know what it is to cry for every reason, to be justified in the crying and still feel like you’re losing yourself or your mind and sometimes both. I suffered from PTSD after an incident in my life and I felt as if I was stuck, that I would never escape it. However, I knew God would bring me out of it. That God would use my experience for my good, for my growth, for the furtherance of HIS kingdom. Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Rid yourself of the anxiety that drowns you. It is a daily study of His word, of allowing God to wrap you in His arms and heal you while you rest in His word. Pray. God is always available.

Thanks for sharing this, Belinda. Anxiety has been a long-term issue for me too, and it’s been a very gradual process of learning to cast my anxieties on to God. I love the verse you mention- most of those are ones that I’ve held to as well. It is such a relief when we can learn to let go and rest in God!

Amen, Lesley. It is a gradual process and it takes time. That’s what’s so great about God. He invests His time and love into our lives. It is a beautiful place to be when God finally brings us through it and into His rest.
