We all long to be renewed – To have a fresh supply of strength each day.
Why?
Because we are weary.
The weight of living in this world is too much to bear. Whether it is the demands of children and a home, the illness of a family member, the tragedy of a friend, the demands of the office, or overcommitment  in other areas of life, what ever it is we are tired.

My favorite verse for renewal is Isaiah 40:31

‘ but those who hope in the Lordwill renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles;they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.’

……..To rest in him and gain strength, to rest in Him and be able to go through each day walking, running without getting tired or weary.

But how is this possible? And why do I so often find myself failing to feel renewed?

Part of the answer is found in the verses just before that. Isaiah 29:28-29

‘ Do you not know?Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God,the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. ‘

God does not grow tired. He gives strength to the weary, and increases the power of the one who lacks might.

The supply – His supply – is there waiting for us. He will never change. His strength available to us will never change. His desire to fill us will his strength is part of his character.

And yet all too often I find my soul weary, heavy, not wanting to go forward.

My failure to feel renewed has to do with the renewal of my focus.

My mind must be trained in truth. My flesh leads me to believe I can carry out a day after I have spent a morning hour with Him. But moment by moment I learn to ask him for his source of strength to renew my soul.

Lord, I look to You moment by moment for renewal of my strength and focus. Your strength is perfect, all that I need – all that my souls longs for. Thank You. In Jesus name Amen.
