praying hands

I remember many years ago one of the young college students I was mentoring had what he thought a brilliant idea. Since he was so busy with his college studies and life demands and still wanted to be diligent in his prayer life he came up with what he called ‘speed prayer’

Don’t laugh, this is true and was modeled after what we knew as ‘speed reading’ back then. He said he could visualize the faces of many of the people he was praying for and not say anything. Since the Lord already knew all their needs anyway, (like turning on a switch), he would cover all his prayer responsibilities in minutes.

I knew he was a kind and loving person and had the best intention, but this is not what Jesus had in mind when He said ‘.….the Father knows what you need before you ask Him.’ (Matthew 6:8)

Prayer is our powerful resource and we are encouraged to ‘pray without ceasing‘ (I Thessalonians 5:17). Paul encourages us to ‘pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests….be alert and always keep on praying‘ (Ephesians 6:18)

Remember time is never an issue. When you are talking to someone you dearly love, there never seems to be enough time!!!!!!

Love you and keep praying (not speed prayers)
