Kids Sunday School is a great place to teach  our children to praylesson 9 prayer closet door

The Lord’s Prayer is the most common example of prayer and provides a guide to our prayer lives. This week’s lesson for our Sunday School class was on prayer. I found a basic outline for the Lord’s Prayer and made a prayer closet for the class based off that.

Feel free to use the free printable here Christian printable prayer closet booklet The Lord’s Prayer

Matthew 6:9-13 (NKJV)

‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,
10 your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us today our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts,
as we forgive our debtors
13 And do not lead us into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.

For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen

The words are familiar but are they meaningful to us? Scripture lacks power when not engrained in our hearts. My passion is that others would know this basic truth. Scripture cannot be rout memorization but can be prayed, relied upon, brought to Him as promises that He longs to fulfill.

In effort to teach this to our class I made the inside of the prayer closet booklet like thislesson 9 prayer closet

The inside left contains the Scripture with the following explanation

1. Praise and Worship (vs 9)

2. Pray for God’s will (vs 10) He has purposes that we don’t see and more important than our circumstances is that His work is done on earth so He might be glorified.

3. Reliance and dependence of God for our needs (vs11). Pray about our needs but also thank Him that He promised to provide.

4. Repentance (vs 12) Ask forgiveness for sin and if we don’t know of sin ask that the Lord would show us

5. Ask for protection from evil. (vs 13). The spiritual battle is real and we need God’s help to say no to temptation.

6. To God be the Glory (vs 13). As we pray the focus always remains on the glory of God.

And the right side gives an outline for each child to write their personalized prayer based on the Lord’s Prayer.
