Entrusted with a gift

For those of us who like to write and feel that it is a gift God has given us, we want to use it for His kingdom but sometimes wonder how. In the past month Walt and I have been working on some creative ideas, prayerfully asking the Lord how we can use them to impact the lives of others.

To hand someone something you have personally written is touching. If the person is your friend they might be more interested in something from you personally rather than something written by someone else. For example Walt likes to have a variety of Christian literature in his van as he travels around to his locksmith appointments but has found that people are more receptive when handed something written by him. It brings a personal touch to his Christian witness.

Two areas the Lord has shown us for opportunities to have printed work available are simple…anyone with a computer could do them.

  1. Type our poems in bookmark format, and print a small supply to have on hand when God brings about the opportunity to share.

2. Create our own greeting cards with the poems we have written.

This is the front of a greeting card we created using Walt’s poem Mission Present

and the inside spread reads as follows.

I created this through Microsoft publisher and can either print it through any given print shop online (vista print or walmart.com for instance) or the card can be printed on card stock from my home printer.

We have found it is an amazing blessing to be able to send such a personal card!

With poems I have a tendency to write but then just leave them in my journal. But God intends for us to be a blessing to others, giving us gifts for the edification of the body of Christ, therefore I believe He desires we share with others.

Ask God what ways you can use your writing to glorify His name. He has entrusted you with a special gift.. He has a purpose and a plan!
